Captivating Views at Hotel Villa Marie | Pamela Putman

After spending a week in Rome, it was time to depart for the northern Italian Lakes region of Lake Como Hotel Villa Marie. One of the things I love most about Europe is the easily accessible and organized transit system. Trains can take you almost anywhere. After a quick connection in Milan, I was on my way, just 40 km north, to the Lombardy region. The most striking aspect on arrival is the mountains. The 5 lakes of this region are cradled by the Como mountains that surround it, and it is in a word, stunning.

lake como view Hotel Villa Marie possesses both charm and beautiful aesthetics. One of its best features is its accessibility to the ferry, which is how most travel is done on the lakes. The distance from the Como San Giovanni train station to Tremezzo where Hotel Villa Marie is located is best travelled by taxi, which takes about 40 minutes. It is well worth the drive. The scenery is epic, and upon arrival, a beautifully landscaped property awaits.

Hotel Villa Marie room KeyIn the morning, after a restful night’s sleep in Hotel Villa Marie, breakfast is served both inside and on the hotel’s beautiful outside terrace, overlooking Lake Como. Enjoying coffee and this view on a summer morning was the highlight of my stay. The family-run property is available for stays throughout the Fall, and the staff is helpful and welcoming.
